The 2020 Filing Season Has Been Delayed

Due to various errors realized by the IRS in sending the $600 stimulus payments approved by Congress on December 27, 2020 to taxpayers, The IRS has decided to delay the start of the 2020 tax season to February 12th , 2021. The delay allows the IRS time to do additional programming and testing of IRS systems to ensure taxpayers receive the December stimulus payment (code named EIP-2 or Economic Impact Payment).

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING RELATING TO YOUR TAX RETURN PREPARATION:

  • The delay in filing your 2020 return does not mean that there is a similar delay in preparing your 2020 return. The tax preparation program we use is up-to-date and we ARE currently preparing returns to file once the IRS door opens.
  • Although the start of the 2020 filing season has been delayed the end of the tax filing season has not. Absent a change by the IRS (which under the circumstances could potentially happen) Business tax returns are required to be filed by March 15, 2021 and Personal tax returns are required to be filed by April 15, 2021 to be considered on time. Six month filing extensions can continue to be requested, and our program is ready to do so if requested by you.

Please contact our office (770-529-6300) to set your preparation appointment and/or request your return extension. We are open Monday through Friday from 9AM to 6PM through January 24th . We will be open Monday through Saturday from 9AM to 9PM and Sunday from 12PM to 6PM beginning January 25th.
